South Korean cities prepare for upcoming regional festivals
South Korean municipalities in Yeongju and Naju are finalizing preparations for their respective 2026 regional festivals scheduled for October.
The Punggi Ginseng Festival will take place from October 3 to 11 in the Punggi-eup area. Yeongju City officials are focusing on a visitor-centric approach, emphasizing improved transportation via shuttle buses, enhanced safety measures, and expanded food and experiential programs. The city aims to link the festival with local businesses to boost regional income.
The Naju Yeongsan River Festival is set for October 7 to 11 at the Yeongsan River Garden. The event will feature diverse cultural performances, including magic shows and historical reenactments, alongside high-tech experiences like XR content. To support local commerce, Naju City is implementing a lottery system for visitors who spend money at local shops. Logistics plans include frequent shuttle services and increased amenities such as nursing rooms and wheelchair rentals.
