South Korean communities host environmental awareness programs
Local community organizations in South Korea are conducting various programs to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices.
In Incheon, 28 residents of Gajeong 1-dong participated in a ‘Green Tour’ organized by the Gajeong 1-dong Residents' Council. The program included a visit to the Incheon Environmental Corporation's Cheongna branch to learn about waste treatment processes at an incinerator. Participants also visited the Incheon Upcycle Eco Center, where they engaged in upcycling activities, creating items such as bracelets and keyrings from discarded materials like bottle caps and old socks.
In Seoul, the Seokgwan-dong Residents' Council held an environmental poster drawing contest for children. Part of the ‘Seokgwan-dong Environmental Keeper Project,’ the event encouraged children to express their thoughts on climate change and carbon neutrality through art. Fifteen children submitted works, with six recipients earning awards for creativity and expression of environmental themes.
