South Korean community groups win awards at national cultural competition

Local community groups from South Korea achieved notable success at the 17th National Resident Autonomy Center Cultural Program Competition held in Gwangju.

The Keunmulseom Saxophone Club from Deokjeok-myeon, Ongjin County, won the Grand Prize, receiving the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award. The group performed ‘Arirang March’ and ‘Play the Music,’ earning praise for their harmonious ensemble and passion. This victory follows their previous excellence at the Incheon Metropolitan City competition.

Additionally, the Maengdong-myeon Gogo Janggu Team from Eumseong County received the Encouragement Award. After winning top honors in Eumseong and Chungcheongbuk-do, the team competed against 25 national groups, successfully advancing through the preliminaries to the finals at the Chungjang Festival stage.
