South Korean companies expand ESG initiatives and social value creation
South Korean companies and financial institutions are increasingly integrating ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles into their core operations, focusing on social value creation.
In the medical device sector, Vantive Korea launched the ‘Small Actions, Better Vantive’ campaign to foster a flexible organizational culture and improve employee engagement. Roche Diagnostics Korea has provided 20 million won to support children recovering from abuse, marking its 12th year of such donations. Additionally, CGBIO donated 24,500 wound dressing sheets to welfare facilities for the disabled to address shortages of medical supplies.
In the financial sector, Woori Financial Group released its ‘2025 Group ESG Impact Report,’ calculating the monetary value of its ESG activities. The report determined that the group created a total of 6.009 trillion won in social value last year, with the social (S) component accounting for 3.1663 trillion won and the governance (G) component contributing 2.0112 trillion won. The group utilized international measurement methodologies to quantify these impacts across all its subsidiaries.
