South Korean companies report divergent first-half earnings
South Korean companies Namyang Dairy Products and Dunamu reported divergent financial results for the first half of the year.
Namyang Dairy Products saw significant growth, with first-half revenue increasing by 7.9% to 483.2 billion won and operating profit rising by 79.5% to 1.8 billion won. This growth was driven by expanded exports—which rose 168.7% in the second quarter—and a diversified product portfolio including protein drinks and coffee. Its subsidiary, Baekmidang, also returned to profitability.
In contrast, Dunamu, the operator of the Upbit cryptocurrency exchange, experienced a sharp decline in performance. The company reported first-half revenue of 408.1 billion won, a 49.1% decrease from the previous year, while operating profit plummeted 79.7% to 111.5 billion won. Dunamu attributed the downturn to reduced liquidity and weakened investment sentiment in the global digital asset market.
