South Korean court orders compensation for Instagram Live nudity leak

A South Korean court has ordered a man to pay approximately 12 million won in damages to a woman after he captured and distributed her accidental nudity during an Instagram Live broadcast.

The Seoul Central District Court ruled that the defendant engaged in secondary victimization by continuing to mock and distribute the captured images even after receiving criminal punishment. The court noted that the defendant’s actions caused significant mental distress and psychological trauma to the victim, noting a causal link between the defendant's ongoing harassment and the victim's subsequent attempt to take her own life.

The ruling includes compensation for emotional distress and a portion of medical expenses, totaling 12,025,789 won.
