South Korean cultural institutions launch seasonal arts and heritage programs

Various cultural institutions in South Korea are launching seasonal programs to promote arts and heritage.

The Gwangju Museum of Art has announced its 4th quarter education program for 2026, running from October 1 to December 27. The curriculum includes 65 different courses designed for all ages, from infants and children to adults. Programs include nature-themed creative activities for children, specialized art projects for youth in special education classes through the Gwangju YMCA, and practical workshops for adults covering genres such as Korean painting, acrylics, and leather crafts.

In Yeoju, the Yeoju Sejong Culture and Tourism Foundation will host the 2026 Hangeul Day Cultural Event at the Sejong the Great Tomb from October 9 to 10. Celebrating the 580th anniversary of the promulgation of Hunminjeongeum, the event features performances by popular characters like Teenieping and the comedy duo Heunhan Nammae. The festival also includes hands-on experiences such as calligraphy, Hangeul font design, and various exhibitions to help families and children engage with the history and beauty of the Korean alphabet.
