South Korean District Self‑Help Centres Celebrate Openings

The Busan North District Self‑Help Centre marked its 25th anniversary with a cultural event at the MegaBox Deokcheon cinema, featuring district mayor Jung Myung‑hee, centre staff, and about 120 local participants. The centre, which runs 17 livelihood projects such as the "Steady Meal" program, highlighted its role in supporting low‑income residents through work experience, employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

In Seoul’s Yeongdeungpo district, Mayor Jo Yu‑jin attended the opening ceremony of the new Yeongdeungpo District Self‑Help Centre. The facility includes three counseling rooms, a large training hall and office space for self‑help project teams, and is intended to serve as a comprehensive hub for helping vulnerable community members achieve independence.

Both centres aim to strengthen regional social welfare by providing job‑training, counseling and other support services to residents in need.
