South Korean doctor warns against five breakfast foods

South Korean physician Park Won-jung has issued warnings regarding specific breakfast foods that can cause extreme fluctuations in blood sugar and digestion when consumed on an empty stomach.

According to Dr. Park, refined carbohydrates and sweets—such as white bread, cookies, and pastries—are particularly harmful. Because these foods lack natural fiber, the body absorbs sugar at an accelerated rate when fasting, causing a blood sugar spike that forces the pancreas to overproduce insulin. This cycle often leads to a subsequent rapid drop in blood sugar, resulting in fatigue, loss of focus, and an increased risk of type 2 diabetes.

Additionally, the doctor cautioned against consuming bottled or pulp-free fruit juices for breakfast. While often perceived as healthy, the juicing process removes essential fiber, which normally acts as a buffer to slow sugar absorption.
