South Korean donors provide major scholarship funds for students

Various philanthropic initiatives are providing significant financial support for education and talent development in South Korea.

In Incheon, Lee Gun-shin, CEO of Namhyang Food Tortilla, donated 100 million won to Incheon National University. The funds will establish the ‘Lee Gun-shin Scholarship’ to support students in the College of Business Administration. The donation is structured to preserve the principal while using investment returns to provide annual scholarships.

In Gyeongsangbuk-do, the Uiseong County Talent Cultivation Foundation has signed an agreement to provide 300 million won to Angye Middle and High Schools over the next decade. This funding, part of a larger 1 billion won donation from former Danbuk-myeon honorary head Lee Ki-yoon, will be distributed at 15 million won annually to support student academic activities and educational environments.
