South Korean entities receive awards at 2026 Renewable Energy Day
At the 2026 Renewable Energy Day ceremony held in Seoul, several South Korean organizations were recognized by the Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Environment for their contributions to the renewable energy sector.
Amorepacific received a Presidential Citation, becoming the only organization among the four recipients of the award. The company was honored for its transition to 100% renewable energy across all global sites and its pioneering use of direct and virtual power purchase agreements (PPAs and VPPAs) to support the domestic procurement market.
NH Nonghyup Bank was awarded a Ministerial Citation for its commitment to the K-RE100 initiative. The bank has secured 8MW of renewable energy through direct power purchase agreements with Hanwha Solutions and aims to meet 100% of its electricity needs with renewable sources by 2040.
The Korea Ocean Business Corporation (KOBC) also received a Ministerial Citation for its role in establishing a financial support system for the offshore wind industry. This includes providing financing for specialized vessels and dedicated ports, such as the recent approval of financial support for Mokpo New Port, which serves as a logistics hub for offshore wind installation.
