South Korean exchanges Upbit and Bithumb add new tokens CAP and UB
South Korean crypto exchange Upbit began trading the CAP token on August 6 across its Korean won (KRW), Bitcoin (BTC) and Tether (USDT) markets. The listing opened at 14:00 KST with early trading restrictions: buy orders were blocked for five minutes, sell orders priced more than 10% below the previous close were limited, and only limit orders were allowed for the first two hours. Deposits and withdrawals for CAP are supported solely via the Ethereum network, using contract 0x99991c6aabba5a096f24f250b73580f5179b9999. At the time of listing, CAP traded near $0.02735, up about 15.3% over 24 hours, with a market value of roughly $42.5 million.
In the same period, rival exchange Bithumb announced the addition of the UB token to its platform, continuing a recent wave of new altcoin listings in South Korea. Bithumb had previously listed CAP on June 30, making Upbit the second major Korean exchange to offer a CAP/KRW pair. Both listings are expected to increase liquidity for the respective tokens and generate retail interest, though analysts note that they are unlikely to move Bitcoin’s price directly.
