South Korean experts receive Presidential Citations for medical standardization
Two South Korean experts in medical technology were awarded Presidential Citations during the 2026 World Standards Day ceremony in Seoul for their contributions to international medical and digital health standards.
Professor Han Tae-hwa of the Yonsei University Health System was recognized for his work in developing international standards for medical AI, digital health, and brain-computer interfaces (BCI). He serves in leadership roles within the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), focusing on connecting national research achievements with global standardization to support domestic companies in entering international markets.
Kang Hee-jung, CEO of Daeyo Medi, received the citation for advancing traditional Korean pulse diagnosis technology into international medical device standards. Kang led the establishment of ISO 18615:2020, the first international standard for pulse diagnostic devices. This achievement has facilitated the global expansion of domestic technology through CE certification and medical device registration.
