South Korean father faces arrest for death of 2-month-old daughter
A man in his 40s appeared before the Suwon District Court on October 14 for a substantive interrogation regarding an arrest warrant for the death of his two-month-old daughter. The suspect is accused of child abuse resulting in death after allegedly assaulting the infant at his residence in Osan because she would not sleep.
Police reported that the suspect's wife was sleeping in another room and was unaware of the incident. While the suspect was initially arrested on suspicion of murder, he has denied intent to kill. Consequently, investigators have applied for an arrest warrant based on charges of child abuse resulting in death.
Evidence includes physical trauma found on the infant's body and indications that the suspect remotely deleted home camera footage immediately after the child was pronounced dead. The National Forensic Service has provided a preliminary finding that the death was likely caused by head injuries. Police are currently conducting digital forensics to recover the deleted video files.
