South Korean father seeks divorce after wife's game‑addiction and threats
A 30‑year‑old South Korean delivery driver and father of a four‑year‑old daughter reported that his wife became absorbed in computer gaming, neglecting childcare and household duties. She left the home a year ago and has not returned.
During the separation she threatened the husband’s parents, saying she would stab them, and later called police claiming the husband was threatening her with a weapon. Police cleared the husband of any wrongdoing, after which the wife walked out of the station and has remained absent.
Legal counsel explained that the wife’s long‑term abandonment and abusive conduct meet the criteria for “malicious abandonment” and constitute a serious ground for divorce. The husband is likely to obtain custody, can seek alimony, and may claim past and future child‑support payments. The wife could also face criminal charges for threats and false police reporting.
