Yangpyeong Murderer Sentenced to 27 Years for Killing Cohabitant and Dumping Body

A 30‑year‑old man was convicted of murdering his cohabiting partner and discarding the body near the Yangpyeong River’s 두물머리 (Two‑Water‑Head) area. The court found that he strangled the victim, placed the corpse in a rental car, and abandoned it near the riverbank, where it was recovered after extensive searches.

The Seoul Northern District Court imposed a 27‑year imprisonment term and ordered a 15‑year electronic monitoring (ankle‑brace) requirement, citing the severe pain inflicted on the victim’s family, the attempt to conceal the crime, and the high risk of reoffending.
