South Korean firms Samsung Heavy Industries and Posco International secure US LNG bunkering design approval and Brazil‑s
Samsung Heavy Industries and Conrad Shipyard received an Approval in Principle from the American Bureau of Shipping for the basic design of a 12,000‑cubic‑metre LNG bunkering articulated tug‑barge. The project, part of the Korea‑U.S. Shipbuilding Partnership Center, aims to expand LNG bunkering capacity in the United States.
Posco International signed a memorandum of understanding with Australian‑based Meteoric Resources to develop a rare‑earth supply chain in Brazil. Posco will purchase intermediate rare‑earth materials from Meteoric’s Caldeira project in Minas Gerais and refine them into oxides for permanent‑magnet manufacturers, diversifying South Korea’s critical‑mineral sources and supporting the new‑mobility industry.
