South Korean firms target Latin American markets via Mexico expos
South Korean companies are aggressively expanding into the Latin American market through major exhibitions in Mexico. During the ‘2026 K-EXPO MEXICO’ and the ‘Korea Goods Exhibition’ held in Mexico City, dozens of Korean firms showcased products ranging from food and beauty to electronics and mobility.
Key participants included Nongshim, which promoted its Shin Ramyun brand, and Binggrae, focusing on its dairy and snack products. In the beauty sector, Amorepacific utilized AI-based skin diagnosis technology, while LG Household & Health Care introduced K-lifestyle products. Technology leaders like LG Electronics showcased premium transparent OLED displays, and Kia presented hybrid SUV models to highlight eco-friendly mobility.
The events facilitated significant business connections, with 123 Latin American buyers participating in consultations with 59 Korean companies. Notably, a $1 million MOU was signed for the export of seasoned seaweed. Organizations such as KOTRA and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy are leveraging Mexico’s strategic position and young consumer demographic to establish it as a gateway for K-culture and consumer goods into the broader Latin American region.
