South Korean gasoline prices fall for 21st consecutive week

South Korean gasoline prices continued their downward trend during the first week of October, marking 21 consecutive weeks of decline. According to the Korea National Oil Corporation's Opinet system, the national average price for gasoline was 1,857.6 won per liter, a decrease of 0.4 won from the previous week.

Regional data shows that Seoul had the highest average price at 1,904.0 won per liter, while Daegu recorded the lowest at 1,829.8 won per liter. Among brand-specific pricing, GS Caltex stations reported the highest average at 1,861.0 won, whereas Alttul gas stations offered the lowest average at 1,845.7 won. Diesel prices also saw a slight decrease, averaging 1,843.3 won per liter.

Despite geopolitical risks in the Middle East and concerns regarding supply disruptions due to potential military operations and tanker attacks, international oil prices remained relatively stable. The price of Dubai crude rose slightly by 0.2 dollars to 108.0 dollars per barrel. Domestic fuel prices typically reflect international market fluctuations with a delay of two to three weeks.
