South Korean health centers receive Ministry of Health and Welfare awards

South Korean local health centers in Dongjak-gu and Yeongcheon-si have received multiple awards from the Ministry of Health and Welfare during the 19th Dementia Overcoming Day celebrations.

Dongjak-gu received both an institutional award for excellent dementia programs and an individual award for dementia prevention management. The district implemented various services, including the ‘Memory Walk Program’ for cognitive improvement, a dementia-safe shuttle bus that has served approximately 27,000 users, and medical expense support for seniors aged 70 and older.

In Yeongcheon-si, the Dementia Relief Center was honored with a ministerial award for its excellent dementia programs and a ministerial citation for its 2026 dementia management implementation plan. The center provides customized services such as early screening, prevention education, and family support to create a dementia-friendly environment.
