South Korean Hoban Group ramps up AI data‑center power infrastructure in Australia

Hoban Group planning chief Kim Dae‑heun spent a week in Australia meeting with global data‑center operator AirTrunk and the nation’s transmission operator Transgrid. The visits culminated in a contract to build power‑grid infrastructure for AI‑driven data centres, reflecting rising demand as artificial‑intelligence workloads expand and energy transitions accelerate.

Kim also inspected the Daehan Wire (대한전선) Australian subsidiary, reviewing ongoing projects and confirming the firm’s strategy to expand its high‑voltage transmission business across Oceania. The trip follows earlier European outreach in Denmark and the Netherlands, underscoring Hoban Group’s broader push to secure new markets for its power‑infrastructure services.

The group aims to leverage its technical capabilities and partner network to capture growth in the region’s AI data‑center sector, where new ultra‑high‑voltage networks are needed to support large‑scale computing facilities.
