South Korean hospitals launch specialized healthcare support programs

South Korean medical institutions are launching specialized support programs for vulnerable populations. Chonbuk National University Hospital is conducting a three-year initiative to assist women with disabilities or chronic conditions, such as diabetes, in preparing for and managing healthy pregnancies and childbirth. The program provides professional education, nutritional counseling, and training on digital diabetes management tools like insulin pumps.

Separately, Korea University Anam Hospital has opened ‘Dasum Classroom,’ a hospital school specifically designed for pediatric and adolescent patients hospitalized for mental health issues. This initiative, supported by Hanwha General Insurance and the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, aims to prevent educational gaps during treatment and facilitate a smooth return to school. The program also offers psychological support for the families of patients to address caregiver burnout.
