South Korean hospitals partner with local governments for medical welfare
Local governments and medical institutions in South Korea are establishing new partnerships to strengthen medical safety nets for vulnerable populations.
In Hwaseong, Dongtan City Hospital signed a memorandum of understanding with Byeongjeom-gu to provide medical and welfare support. The hospital donated approximately 5 million won in food and supplies to the 'Just Dream' project and will provide medical consultations, preventive education, and professional advisory services to bridge gaps in local healthcare.
In Seoul, the Songpa 1-dong Community Center partnered with Seoul Bonwon Hospital to assist low-income residents. Under this agreement, the hospital will provide a 15% to 20% discount on non-reimbursable medical expenses for outpatient and inpatient treatments for residents recommended by the community center. The initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on those who might otherwise delay or forgo necessary medical care.
