South Korean hospitals report progress in medical quality and resident training

Jeonbuk National University Hospital held its 2026 Quality Improvement (QI) competition to enhance patient safety and medical service quality. Eight teams presented oral reports and ten teams presented posters, covering topics such as clinical process improvements, ESG management, and operational efficiency. The grand prize was awarded to the Outpatient Nursing Team for their ‘Quick Service’ initiative for initial cancer patients, which was recognized for its high goal achievement and potential for hospital-wide implementation.

In Incheon, Inha University Hospital hosted an interim report session for its resident training environment innovation project. Supported by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the program aims to strengthen the role of supervising physicians and improve the training quality for interns and residents in departments including internal medicine, surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, and emergency medicine. The hospital has implemented a triple-layered guidance system for interns and provides structured clinical skill training to ensure residents develop into highly competent specialists.
