South Korean institutions expand AI integration and safety measures

Various South Korean institutions are expanding the practical application and regulation of artificial intelligence across multiple sectors.

In the healthcare sector, Bumin Hospital Group has launched an AI leader training program to enhance organizational AI transformation (AX) capabilities. The curriculum ranges from basic concepts to advanced prompt engineering and automated data analysis, with trained leaders acting as mentors within their departments.

On a regulatory level, the Korea Communications Commission held a public-private meeting to discuss countermeasures against illegal and harmful information generated by AI services. Discussions focused on technical safeguards, such as Kakao’s ‘Kanana Safeguard’ model, to prevent inappropriate or dangerous AI responses.

Local governments are also integrating AI into public services. Dongdaemun-gu is collaborating with medical and welfare institutions to explore AI applications for integrated care. Meanwhile, Ansan City and the Ansan Office of Education have announced plans to support humanoid robot programs in schools starting next year to foster future digital talent.
