Kim Jong Un classified as extremely obese by South Korean intelligence

South Korean intelligence services have released a new assessment regarding the health of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. According to lawmaker Youn Kun-young, citing Seoul's spy agency, Kim is classified as “extremely obese” and weighs over 140 kilograms.

While the assessment notes that Kim faces a “high risk of cardiovascular disease,” it also indicates that he currently shows no signs of physical difficulty in daily activities, such as climbing stairs. This is attributed to the continuous monitoring and care provided by his dedicated personal medical team.

Kim, a long-time heavy smoker, remains a subject of intense international scrutiny due to North Korea's nuclear capabilities and the potential for regional instability should his health decline suddenly. Historical context notes that his father, Kim Jong Il, and grandfather, Kim Il Sung, were also obese smokers who both died of heart attacks.

Reports also highlight a contrast between the food shortages facing the North Korean population and Kim's reported preference for luxury items, including caviar, lobster, and foie gras.
