South Korean lawmaker alleges NEC voter count manipulation

Joo Jin-woo, a lawmaker from the People Power Party, has alleged that the National Election Commission (NEC) manipulated voter counts in 117 polling stations across three different elections. During a press conference at the National Assembly, Joo claimed that log records show voter numbers were entered up to 90 minutes before the actual time of counting.

The allegations span the June 3 local elections (47 locations), the presidential election (26 locations), and the 2024 general election (44 locations). Joo cited specific examples, such as data for a 1:00 PM count being entered at approximately 11:28 AM during the local elections. He further noted instances where different polling stations shared identical entry times or identical voter numbers, suggesting that data might have been bulk-entered by staff.

Rejecting the possibility of mere clerical errors, Joo called for a special prosecution and a parliamentary investigation. He urged the joint investigation headquarters to expand its scope beyond the local elections to include the presidential and general elections to fully uncover the truth regarding the voting rate entry process.
