South Korean lawmaker Ko Min-jung meets former President Moon Jae-in after primary loss

Democratic Party lawmaker Ko Min-jung, who was eliminated in the party's leadership primary on August 17, traveled nine hours round‑trip to former President Moon Jae-in’s residence in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province. She said Moon praised her resilience, noting that “the challenge itself was meaningful” and encouraging her to keep trying.

Ko Min-jung described the meeting as a source of renewed confidence, saying she left feeling ready to “do better” and pledging to continue her work in the National Assembly’s Education Committee and in her constituency. She also mentioned the extreme heat of 42.5 °C recorded on August 2, but noted the weather was cooler (around 37 °C) during her visit.
