Democratic Party confirms Shincheonji collective membership

The Democratic Party of Korea is facing internal turmoil following the confirmation of a substantial number of Shincheonji Church members joining the party. Party leader Kim Min-seok announced that an internal task force investigation has confirmed a significant degree of collective membership and that meaningful testimonies regarding organized involvement in party primaries have been collected.

This revelation has reignited factional conflicts within the party. While Kim Min-seok suggested that follow-up measures, including potential legal requests, are being considered, members of the pro-Jung Chung-rae faction have demanded full transparency. They are calling for the complete disclosure of investigation results to determine if a 'three-way secret alliance' involving anti-Lee Jae-myung elements, divisionists, and Shincheonji actually exists.

Some party members have raised concerns regarding the leak of confidential meeting details to the press. Meanwhile, the party is also navigating a decline in public approval ratings, which recently dropped to 35.5% according to Realmeter, amid ongoing controversies over legislative tactics and internal leadership disputes.
