South Korean libraries host diverse programs for September Reading Month

Public libraries in South Korea are launching various cultural programs to celebrate September as ‘Reading Month.’

Gwangcheon Public Library is hosting events designed for all generations, including a senior-focused color therapy lecture that utilizes AI for psychological analysis. The library is also offering increased book loan limits, exhibitions of original picture book illustrations by Emanuele Bertoshi, and free distribution of magazines.

Gususan Library, under the Haengbok Buk-gu Cultural Foundation, has organized a lineup of lectures and activities. Notable events include a talk by novelist Kim Kum-hee, a piano concert by child performers, and sessions with author Kim Sol-mi and children's book critic Kim Seo-jung. The library will also host a multicultural festival, ecological education games, and a late-night humanities lecture with film critic Kim Chae-hee.
