South Korean local councils conduct public asset and healthcare inspections

Local councils in South Korea have conducted field inspections to oversee public assets and healthcare infrastructure.

The Daejeon Metropolitan Council’s Special Committee on the Normalization of Public Property visited four key sites, including the Daejeon Tourism Organization and the Bomunsan Natural Recreation Forest. The committee aimed to inspect the status of business implementation, asset management, and the appropriateness of budget execution to ensure transparency for citizens. The committee is scheduled to continue its activities until November 2026.

In a separate initiative, the Health and Welfare Committee of the Jeonnam Gwangju Integrated Special City Council inspected public medical institutions in the eastern region. Members visited the Suncheon Medical Center to discuss challenges such as securing essential medical personnel and modernizing facilities. They also boarded a hospital ship to visit remote islands in Yeosu to evaluate medical services for residents in areas with limited healthcare access. The committee emphasized the need for budget support and legislative measures to bridge the medical gap between urban and rural areas.
