South Korean local councils focus on administrative audits and ethics

Local councils in South Korea are conducting administrative reviews and addressing ethical concerns. The Chilgok County Council has announced a period for accepting public reports ahead of its second regular session in November. Citizens are encouraged to report illegal or unfair administrative actions, budget waste, or improper subsidy use through the council website, in person, or by mail until October 20.

Meanwhile, the Boseong County Council concluded its 325th regular session, which included reviewing the 2023 settlement of accounts and reserve fund expenditures. During the session, the council's ethics committee decided to discipline a member, requiring a public apology, following controversy regarding a private contract involving a company operated by the member's spouse. The council emphasized its commitment to strengthening integrity and fiscal responsibility.
