South Korean local districts implement new resident communication and policy fulfillment plans

Local governments in South Korea are implementing new strategies to fulfill election pledges and enhance communication with residents.

In Busan, Geumjeong-gu District Head Yoon Il-hyeon held a report and discussion session to finalize the execution plans for 55 specific pledge projects. These initiatives are organized into six major areas, including urban safety, education, youth opportunities, culture and welfare, economic vitality, and resident communication. The district plans to finalize the detailed action plans by late November and will maintain transparency by making them available on the district website.

In Seoul, Nowon-gu District Head Seo Jun-oh has launched a ‘Text Communication Phone’ service to allow residents to report daily inconveniences or suggest policies directly via text message. The service operates 24/7 without requiring membership or identity verification, aiming to increase accessibility for those unfamiliar with digital administrative services. The district head will personally review the messages and coordinate with relevant departments to address issues such as road damage, illegal waste dumping, and traffic concerns.
