South Korean local entities recognized for senior employment excellence

Several South Korean local government entities and organizations have been recognized for their excellence in senior employment and social activity support programs.

In Icheon, the Icheon Senior Club received an Excellence Award from the Korea Labor Force Development Institute for the Aged. The award recognizes the club’s efforts in 2025 to provide stable, diverse job opportunities—including public interest, competency-based, and community business models—while ensuring participant safety and social integration through systematic management.

In Goheung County, the local government was named an excellent municipality in the 2026 evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Labor Force Development Institute for the Aged. Goheung was the only municipality in the Jeonnam-Gwangju region to receive this distinction. Additionally, two local organizations, the Goheung Senior Welfare Center and the Goheung Senior Club, both received Grand Prizes in their respective categories. Goheung County currently invests approximately 20.85 billion won to provide jobs for 5,460 seniors, focusing on income preservation and healthy aging.
