South Korean local governments enhance youth support and engagement
Local governments in South Korea are increasing engagement with youth to improve regional support systems and policy development.
In Yuseong-gu, the Administrative and Self-Governing Committee of the Yuseong-gu Council conducted an on-site inspection of the Out-of-School Youth Support Center. Committee Chair Park Seok-yeon and other members reviewed facility management and program environments. The visit aimed to identify practical ways to support the learning, independence, and social integration of youth who have left the formal school system.
In Yeongyang-gun, Governor Oh Do-chang held a meeting with the Youth Steering Committee from the Yeongyang-gun Youth Training Center. During the session, youth members presented policy proposals directly to the governor, discussing the need for expanded cultural and welfare spaces and more diverse local programs. The initiative sought to involve young people as active participants in community planning rather than just recipients of policy.
