South Korean local governments expand labor and maternity welfare

Local governments in South Korea are implementing targeted welfare and legal support programs. In Dangjin, the Labor Rights Center is providing legal aid and education to vulnerable workers, including youth, women returning to the workforce, and employees at small businesses. For workers earning less than 3 million won per month, certified labor attorneys are available to assist with cases involving unpaid wages, industrial accidents, or unfair dismissal.

Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province has announced an additional recruitment period for its eco-friendly agricultural product support program for pregnant women. From August 26 to September 8, approximately 7,500 eligible women residing in 25 cities and counties within the province can apply. Selected participants will receive roughly 240,000 won worth of certified organic or eco-friendly food products to support healthy pregnancy and childcare.
