South Korean local governments recognize proactive administration excellence

Local governments in South Korea, specifically Boeun County and Uijeongbu City, have announced their top performers and best practices for proactive administration during the first half of 2026.

In Boeun County, four officials were selected for their creative approaches to public service. Notable achievements include the implementation of a ‘visiting dedicated window’ service to assist elderly and mobility-impaired residents with livelihood stability funds, and the successful establishment of smart farm facilities for new farmers, which secured significant national and local funding while reducing operating costs.

Uijeongbu City recognized several cases that improved citizen convenience, such as converting abandoned private land into a 56-space public parking lot at no cost and conducting aerial cable maintenance projects. The city also highlighted efforts in securing 1 billion won in national funds to resolve illegal land occupation issues. Both municipalities plan to provide personnel incentives to the selected officials and aim to foster a culture of proactive administration across their respective government sectors.
