South Korean local governments unveil new development visions and slogans

Jangseong County Mayor Kim Han‑jong used the inauguration of the 9th elected term to announce a seven‑point plan that includes building a “K‑semiconductor belt” in the advanced‑industry zone, establishing a national cerebral‑vascular centre, and attracting the Army Academy to the region, alongside projects for smart agriculture, tourism, and welfare.

In Yanggu County, officials also refreshed the municipal image ahead of the 9th term, adopting the slogan “Specializing Gangwon, making life enjoyable in Yanggu” and promoting local branding such as “Visit Yanggu, feel ten years younger.” Both initiatives reflect a broader push by South Korean local authorities to boost economic growth, attract investment, and improve community welfare as new administrations take office.
