South Korean local officials meet with sanitation workers
Local government leaders in South Korea held meetings with environmental sanitation workers to acknowledge their efforts during the summer heatwave.
In Incheon, Geomdan-gu District Head Kim Jin-gyu hosted a communication meeting with representatives of the district's 42 environmental workers. The session focused on listening to field reports regarding road cleaning and urban maintenance. To support staff working in high temperatures, the district planned to distribute watermelon to the workers.
In Seoul, Dongdaemun-gu District Head Choi Dong-min held a luncheon with sanitation staff to discuss the difficulties of working in extreme heat. This marked the first communication session with the workers since the start of the current local administration. During the meeting, Choi requested increased focus on upcoming seasonal tasks, such as clearing fallen leaves in autumn, to ensure pedestrian safety and urban cleanliness.
