South Korean local regions expand community welfare and security plans

Local government bodies in South Korea are implementing new welfare initiatives to strengthen community support systems. In Sanyang-eup, the Community Security Council launched the ‘Dream Growing Sanyang, My Dream Start’ project. This initiative provides low-income youth with hobby-related supplies, such as musical instruments, art tools, and athletic shoes, to encourage physical and emotional growth and reduce the gap in extracurricular experiences.

Meanwhile, Cheongsong County has finalized its 6th Regional Community Security Plan for 2027–2030. The plan consists of eight major strategies and 41 detailed projects designed to address structural changes like aging populations. The framework focuses on life-cycle care and customized support to ensure a comprehensive social safety net that provides tangible benefits to residents from childhood through old age.
