South Korean local regions launch community dementia prevention programs
Local government agencies in South Korea are implementing diverse community-based initiatives to promote dementia prevention and early detection.
In Bonghwa-gun, the Dementia Relief Center organized a walking event in Orok 2-ri to encourage healthy lifestyles and raise awareness. The program included cognitive exercises, dementia-related quizzes, and puzzles to help residents understand the importance of early diagnosis. The event also featured promotional booths to register dementia partners and provide information on management services.
In Yeongjong-gu, authorities have launched a mobile dementia prevention classroom in the Yongyu area to improve accessibility for elderly residents. This program utilizes Information and Communication Technology (ICT), including smart touch tables and cognitive rehabilitation training systems, to provide interactive mental exercises. The initiative aims to support cognitive health through functional games and physical activities at local health centers.
