Uijeongbu Court sentences man to 4 years for robbery and injury

A man in his 60s has been sentenced to four years in prison for robbery and injury after attacking a long-time acquaintance in Dongducheon, Gyeonggi Province.

The Uijeongbu District Court sentenced the defendant, identified as A, for breaking into the home of B, a colleague of approximately 15 years. Using a key he had previously obtained, A entered the residence to steal food. When B returned home and discovered him, A threatened B with a kitchen knife and engaged in a physical struggle. During the altercation, A assaulted B, causing injuries that required two weeks of medical treatment, and fled with 150,000 KRW in cash.

The court noted that the defendant had been secretly entering the home to eat for some time due to financial hardship. While the court considered his admission of guilt and economic circumstances, it emphasized the severity of betraying a long-term relationship of trust and the decision to escalate from theft to robbery.
