South Korean man sentenced to 7 years for child abuse and sexual assault

A man in his 40s has been sentenced to seven years in prison for the sexual abuse of his minor daughter and the physical and mental abuse of three other children. The defendant, identified as A, was also accused of feeding his children formula mixed with soju.

The Changwon District Court Miryang Branch ruled that the children were exposed to severe suffering due to the abuse. In addition to the prison term, the court ordered 40 hours of sexual violence and child abuse treatment programs and a 10-year employment restriction at institutions related to children and adolescents.

The defendant's wife received a six-month prison sentence suspended for two years for neglecting the children's education by failing to send one of them to school. The defendant has filed an appeal against the ruling.
