South Korean ministries launch contest to prevent construction fall accidents
South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Employment and Labor are jointly hosting a contest to prevent fall accidents at construction sites. The initiative aims to reduce fatalities, as falls represent the largest portion of construction-related deaths, by fostering safety awareness through public ideas.
Open to all citizens, the contest features two categories: short-form promotional videos and policy proposals or best practice cases. The video category seeks creative content under three minutes that explains safety rules and facility usage, while the policy category focuses on improving work environments through new technologies or proven accident prevention methods.
Applications are accepted from September 14 to October 13 via the official contest website. A total of 32 million won in prize money will be awarded, including grand prizes from both ministries. Final winners will be announced in December following expert evaluation and plagiarism checks.
