South Korean Ministry hosts carbon neutrality pop-up in Hongdae

The South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is hosting a pop-up experience center titled ‘Save the Carbon-Zero Influence Cell Village’ at Hongdae Star Square in Seoul from August 22 to 30. The event utilizes characters from the popular webtoon ‘Yumi’s Cells’ to engage younger audiences in the concept of carbon neutrality through interactive, escape-room-style missions.

Participants can engage in activities such as the ‘Blue Carbon Fishing Spot’ to collect ocean debris or solve cases involving carbon overconsumption in the ‘Cell Prison.’ The initiative aims to make environmental policy more accessible and engaging rather than relying on traditional, one-way communication methods.

In conjunction with the event, the Ministry and the Presidential Commission on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth have unveiled a new policy brand, ‘Carbon 0 (Zero) Influence.’ The name combines the ‘0’ from Net-Zero goals with the positive ‘influence’ that carbon neutrality can have on citizens' daily lives.
