South Korean municipalities launch Chuseok donation incentives

Several South Korean municipalities are launching special promotional events for the Gohyang Sarang Donation System in observance of the Chuseok holiday to encourage local contributions and boost regional economies.

Boryeong City is running a special event from September 1 to September 18. Donors contributing 100,000 KRW can receive benefits totaling up to 160,000 KRW. This includes full tax credits, local specialty gifts (such as rice, pork, and traditional liquor) with increased volumes, and a 15,000 KRW Naver Pay coupon.

Busan Nam-gu is conducting a month-long event throughout September. All donors contributing 100,000 KRW or more will receive a 20,000 KRW Naver Pay voucher, with 50 individuals selected via lottery to receive an additional 10,000 KRW Baedal Minjok voucher.

The donation system allows individuals to contribute to local governments outside their registered residential address, receiving tax deductions and local gift rewards in return. The funds are utilized for community welfare, local economic revitalization, and solving regional issues.
