South Korean municipalities launch community lifelong learning programs
Local governments in South Korea are expanding community-based lifelong learning opportunities through specialized lecture series.
In Gimcheon, the Gimcheon City Lifelong Education Center is recruiting 70 students for its 42nd Women's University program. Running from October 28 to November 25, the free course offers eight sessions covering diverse topics such as health, humanities, psychology, and science. The curriculum includes expert lectures on subjects ranging from 'low-speed aging health methods' to 'understanding human psychology for happiness.'
In Seoul, Eunpyeong-gu is launching the '1 Dong-1 University' regional special lecture series. From October 14 to November 25, the program will host five sessions across different districts, connecting residents with university expertise. Topics include chronic inflammation management, humanities through film, K-content and popular culture, career selection in the AI era, and professional baseball rules. These free lectures aim to bring academic resources directly into local community centers.
