South Korean opposition contests redevelopment authority transfer

The People Power Party has criticized a government proposal to transfer authority for redevelopment and reconstruction projects involving fewer than 500 households to local district heads. In a separate context, Prime Minister Han Seong-suk emphasized the government's commitment to regional-led growth through mega-projects and balanced regional development. During a National Assembly session, Han highlighted efforts to stabilize livelihoods and recover the economy, noting that the government has focused on fiscal measures such as consumption coupons and investments in new industries to stimulate economic recovery.
