South Korean lawmaker alleges First Lady Kim Hye-kyung used military golf course

People Power Party lawmaker Joo Jin-woo has raised allegations that Kim Hye-kyung, the wife of South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, engaged in 'emperor golf' at the Taereung Country Club on October 20. Joo claims that Kim received expensive private lessons from a prominent professional golfer and utilized presidential clubhouse facilities at the military-operated course.

Joo highlighted that the outing occurred on the same day a fatal fire in Yeoksam-dong resulted in 19 casualties, questioning the morality of the activity. He also raised concerns regarding the source of funding for the alleged high-cost lessons and has vowed to present video evidence during a parliamentary audit.

The Presidential Office and the Democratic Party have strongly denied the claims, labeling them as unverified and defamatory. The Democratic Party characterized the allegations as 'cyber wrecker' behavior and threatened legal action. Meanwhile, the professional golfer identified by Joo in the allegations has issued a statement denying any involvement, noting she was attending an official sponsor event on the date in question.
