South Korean organizations host initiatives to promote life respect and suicide prevention

Various South Korean institutions are conducting campaigns and competitions to foster a culture of life respect and suicide prevention.

Soonchunhyang University Bucheon Hospital held its ‘2026 Suicide Prevention Campaign,’ involving approximately 250 staff members. The event featured activities such as life-respect quizzes and pledges to act as ‘life guardians’ to identify crisis signals in others. The hospital operates a dedicated Life Love Team, consisting of social workers, clinical psychologists, and nurses, to support patients through emergency stabilization, mental health evaluations, and post-discharge recovery.

Additionally, the Internet Newspaper Ethics Committee, in collaboration with the Korea Foundation for Suicide Prevention, held an awards ceremony for the ‘2026 Republic of Korea Youth Life Respect Content Contest.’ This initiative encourages university students to create articles and advertisements focused on the importance of suicide prevention. Winners included teams from Duksung Women's University and individual students from Sun Moon University and Kyungpook National University, with top honors receiving recognition from the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
